Apple Watch 3 Wishlist
Wireless charging is one of the most desired features in this modern era. While some smartphone making companies have successfully incorporated the technology into their devices, no smartwatch has been released with the wireless charging technology. As Apple has been the pathfinder of many ground-breaking technologies, we hope they will lead the way this time too. The current version of the Apple Watch features a non-removable Li-Ion battery which can be charged through Apple Magnetic Charging Cable, Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Case, or Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock into its USB power adapter. It is a great charging method, especially when you are at home. But the real problem starts when you are away from home.
So we hope, to counter this problem the Apple Watch 3 would feature the Qi wireless charging method, which is becoming increasingly popular with the each passing day. Many smartphone making companies have already incorporated the Qi wireless charging method in their handsets, and in the coming more will do the same. So if the upcoming Apple Watch features wireless charging, it will be a revolutionary move.
2>Less Dependency on iPhone
As the popularity of the smartwatches is growing day by day, industry analyst firms like Canalys has predicted that a total 7.5 million smart watches will feature cellular connectivity in the coming two years. And this number includes the Apple smartwatches also. Currently, the Apple Watch 2 supports activity tracking (with GPS), mobile payments and music playback without a paired iPhone, but the other features like text messaging, emailing and accessing of other third-party apps are virtually impossible without the handset.
So in the upcoming third version of the Apple Watch series, we hope the Cupertino-based tech giant would include a new wireless chipset and cellular connectivity, to make the smartwatch less reliant on the iPhone. Even the speculations are, the Watch 3 would run on its own, independently from the iPhone and the smartwatch would feature an untethered mode which will allow the Apple Watch 3 users to connect to a network through its own SIM card. Although it looks like a long shot as of now because in that case, the battery impact will be havoc and Apple is currently not in the position to afford that.
3> Smart Straps
Pebble has recently incorporated the idea of Smart Straps in two of their smartwatches-Pebble Time and Pebble Time Steel.Smart Straps connect to the watch through a smart accessory port and can make a good smartwatch, great. The battery pack straps provide your wearable extra battery boost and the straps which come with built-in LEDs can notify you whenever you get a notification. So we hope Apple would launch the upcoming smartwatch with Smart Straps and would notch up the wearable to a greater height.
4> Water Proof
Although the current version of the Apple Watch is IPX7 certified, it is only water-resistant, not water-proof. Yes, you can wear the Watch 2 while you are swimming, the terms and conditions Apple levy on its smartwatches are utterly disappointing. According to the norms, you can not wear the Watch 2 in soapy water, like when you are in the shower, and if you do so, you would violate the terms and void the warranty. So we would be more than happy if Apple gives stress on making the upcoming Watch 3 water-resistant or full water-proof. They can do it by adopting some changes in the design part or by updating the terms and regulations.
5> Camera and FaceTime
Before the launch of the Watch 2, we heard the rumour that the smartwatch would feature a front-facing camera. But the tech giant disappointed us and released the wearable without any camera. So we hope this time they will include a front-facing camera in the upcoming smartwatch. The biggest advantage a front-facing camera will possess is the option of video calling through FaceTime or taking selfies. If featured, the front camera would be placed into the top bezel of the watch and would make the wearable more attractive.
The upcoming Apple Watch 3 is going to be one beast of a device and surely a smartwatch we will crave for. So start saving your money as the wearable is likely to make its debut in September 2017.
